EHS Engineer

Job Purpose:

This position is an integral part of the Facilities Department, in ensuring the compliance with both internal and regulatory Workplace Safety and Health requirements; as well as facilities related task. The incumbent should possess a collaborative work style, well organized, can effectively multi task, prioritize, and have a strong written and verbal communication skills. This role requires minimal direction on day to day duties and relies on overall objectives and general policy as guidelines to handle the function and duties.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Provide Safety Trainings (Environmental; Fire; Health and Safety) in English and Mandarin including coordinating schedule and performed required administrative support.
  • Be responsible for implementing all environmental, health and safety programs within the SGP group.
  • Administer and maintain local databases used to support daily; monthly; yearly Safety and Health operation / Fire Safety program (Fire Drill; Table Top Exercise)
  • Administer EHS program on Risk management, Safety program which includes Health / Environmental surveillance (Noise Mapping / Safety Awareness Training / etc); workplace inspection; Incident investigation; Ergonomics, Chemical management, Orientation Contractor safety, etc.
  • Provide consistent communication of EHS expectations to continually increase personnel knowledge and performance. 
  • Maintain permits, file, regulations and related record keeping requirements according to Ministry Of Manpower and Government guidelines
  • Assist in the development of applicable company policies; including the Workplace Safety and Health Management (WSHM) standard and procedures
  • Support contractor safety management plan (contractor safety inspection, induction training, coaching and risk assessment review)

Key Performance Indicators

  • Administer Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), ISO 14001 & 45001 programs for the facility in accordance to corporate guidelines and local legislations
  • Perform the role of Fire Safety Manager, assess fire safety system against SCDF standards and regulations, identify gaps and develop fire safety checklists, standards and guidelines
  • Perform the role of Workplace Safety Health Officer, conduct regular inspections, risks/hazards assessments, incident investigations, reporting and implement required corrective actions and activities for workplace safety improvement
  • Provide communication and education to operations management regarding safety and health issues, evaluate/develop safety training programs and methods

Job Specification

  • Enforce EHS rules and regulations by developing procedures and controls in EHS Management System for all to comply.
  • Implement Chemical Management and Chemical Safety Handling within the TPU organization.
  • Supervises implementation of the organization’s health and safety policy and procedures so that all employees have a safe and healthy working environment and the organization complies with all current and future regulations and laws.
  • Investigate accidents, complete or verify accident reports, and liaise with specialists and health and safety authorities to identify the causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence. Recommend changes to working conditions to ensure all employees have a safe and healthy working environment and the organization complies with all regulations and laws, and internal safety policies and standards.
  • Maintain and analyse records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern. Educate and train the organization’s workforce on health and safety to ensure they understand and comply with the health and safety policies and standards.  
  • Select, train, and evaluate designated workplace safety or first aid officers to ensure they can perform the responsibilities of their role.
  • License holder for Flammable Material, Hazardous Substances, Radiation and Non-Radiation System, Fire Certificate and FSM certification, any other EHS certificate for the Factory as required by local authorities.
  • Internal auditor and administer for ISO 14001 / ISO 45001; EHS Management System and Corporate EHS Management System (Proceed)


  • Diploma in Environmental, Health & Safety/ Engineering with minimum 2 - 3 years of relevant experience; experience in manufacturing industry will have added advantage
  • Must be a certified WSHO (MOM)
  • Must be a certified FSM (SCDF)


  • Good knowledge on ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
  • Good planning, organizing and implementation skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal, strong oral and written communications
  • Able to train, lead and motivate colleagues
  • Able to work under pressure and get job done
  • A self-driven and meticulous individual who has strong ability to multi-task.

Specific Knowledge:

Up-to-date knowledge on EHS practices on Chemical Management (added advantage)
