R&D Electronics Engineer (Software)

Job Purpose

• Design and develop firmware for photoelectric sensors
• Support production with ongoing issues
• Maintenance of existing products

Main Responsibilities

• Conceptual electronic design together with electronic engineer; works closely with electronic engineer to gather requirements
• Evaluates new algorithms which will be implemented in future designs; studies and evaluates new components requiring firmware
• Build R&D samples to verify conceptual software design; integration of firmware
• Studies competitor samples, actively looks what is happening in the market
• Supports other R&D groups with coding, integration and testing of firmware

Job Requirements

• Bachelors / Masters / PHD degree in Software, Computational Science Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualifications
• A minimum of 2 to 5 years in related field or industry and must be proficient in C language
• Possess module-test, integration-test and system-test experience and bare metal programming experience
• Knowledge of signal processing and IO-Link. Candidates who are experienced with source control (sub version) and issue tracking (JIRA) are highly regarded
• Business fluent or native-language English (both written and spoken), with proficiency in German/ another Asian language an added advantage (Mandarin, Bahasa etc.)
• Results focused, strong collaborative mindset and a team player
• Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills using various methods
• Good in handling ambiguity and ability to improvise
