May 15th was the International Day of Family. In the first part, colleagues at Pepperl+Fuchs shared how they balance work and family life. In Part 2, more colleagues share their personal experiences that make family-friendly working possible.
“Pepperl+Fuchs plays an essential role in my work-life balance, thanks to empathetic managers and the opportunity for hybrid work. I am very grateful to Pepperl+Fuchs for all the support I have received, especially in the most challenging moments of my life.”

„I work 24 hours a week part-time, 5 days a week. I usually work from home 4 days a week and am in the office on Wednesdays, which is our fixed team day. Since I also have a team in Asia, I can do a lot via WebEx. When I have on-site appointments outside my team day, I can also schedule them to fit around my childcare needs. My boss gives me the necessary flexibility that I cannot come to the site at short notice if my children’s care or emergency care falls through, or that I can work a shorter or longer day as needed.
In our family, we have a weekly schedule so that everyone can start early or work longer in the afternoon and the other can take the children to daycare or pick them up. It’s relatively stressful, but thanks to my flexible working hours and the option to work from home, it’s manageable. If I increase my hours, we’ll have to reschedule the whole plan again, but we’ll manage that, too!”

Diana, Pepperl+Fuchs in Columbia
¨It seems to me that the flexibility with the distribution of work at home and in the office being two days at home and three in the office, allows me to pick up the children from school and share times that sometimes are used in displacement in this city as big as Bogota, thus also relieving the stress of transportation that sometimes is very full and opting for alternative options such as moped on days that must go to the office and that being three days does not represent a risk as great as it would be to go every day. Likewise, the trust of my employer allows me to achieve our work goals during the working week and not on weekends, to use my time with my children for sports activities during the day and to participate in other activities that only take place on weekends.”

Sina, Pepperl+Fuchs in Germany
„Pepperl+Fuchs accommodated my request for the part-time model of my choice. Thanks to this flexible work model and the tasks adapted to it, I’m able to balance my professional and family responsibilities well. The mix of being present in the office and working from home is a great combination – it allows for in-person exchange and meetings on site, while still being available at home for the family. An understanding supervisor and supportive colleagues also help to ensure that balancing family and career doesn’t become too difficult.”

“I believe that hybrid work gives me more autonomy and allows me to better organize my routine. This has been essential in balancing my professional and family responsibilities, especially when there is an emergency situation.”
Elena, Pepperl+Fuchs in Germany
„I’m someone who loves his family, but honestly, also loves my work. I enjoy the time with my son and want to be there for him – not just in the morning when he wakes up and in the evening when I put him to bed. But it’s also important for me to push projects forward in my role as an editor and video producer, to implement ideas and achieve good results. The fact that I can organize my working hours flexibly at Pepperl+Fuchs is therefore a very big advantage for me. After my parental leave, I was able to decide for myself how many hours
I wanted to work per week and use flexible hours to fit them around our family life. That way, I don’t necessarily have to report „child sick” in an emergency, but can work as soon as my partner can take over for our son. The possibility to work from home at any time is an additional relief. To me, “family“ is part of Pepperl+Fuchs‘ DNA. My managers are always understanding when I prioritize my family and work a little longer on another day or in the evening. I see this is a win-win-win situation – for me, my family and for Pepperl+Fuchs.”

“Pepperl+Fuchs is a company that allows its employees to work in a hybrid way, which helps a lot in saving time on the commute from home to the company, time that we can use for personal matters, such as going to the gym, dedicating more time to the family, among other things. What’s more, the company makes it possible to combine holidays with compensatory time off, which is very attractive, as we have the chance to spend long weekends enjoying the family, either at a family get-together or on trips. Working at Pepperl+Fuchs gives us the feeling of balanced give and take, where we as professionals can do our best without losing our work-life balance.”
Annie, Pepperl+Fuchs in Singapur
“At Pepperl+Fuchs, homeoffice is one of the practical programs to help me balance between my professional and personal life. As a new mother, this program has given me the flexibility to structure my daily activities in the most efficient way. The reliable and effective digital tools provided by the company allows me to stay seamlessly connected with local and regional colleagues, enabling me to maintain productivity while working at home. Additionally, the time saved from commuting also gives me more quality time with my little daughter. I truly appreciate that homeoffice not only helps me sustain my professional performance but also enhances my personal well-being.”
