Sales Engineer, Explosion Protection Division

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager in Sub-Saharan Africa, this role is responsible for regional business development to enlarge the market share of Pepperl+Fuchs Explosion Protection products. The sales engineer will be required to identify potential key accounts in South Africa and establish a plan to convert these key customers through direct sales. The Sales Engineer is also tasked with providing technical consultant sales to customers on product application matters.

Major Accountabilities

  • Engage with end customers and OEMs on a daily basis to foster strong customer relationships and actively follow up on ongoing projects.
  • Enhance your product knowledge and identify customer pain points within their applications, which will allow you to offer tailored, consultative sales solutions that effectively address their specific challenges.
  • Seek out and develop new business opportunities with key accounts to drive growth.
  • Contribute to market development by classifying customers and maintaining an accurate customer database in the CRM system.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to assist customers in making informed decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with channel partners to maximize sales revenue and expand market reach.
  • Take initiative in building relationships with customers, influencing their decisions, and ensuring a long-term relationship that promotes high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the Regional Sales Manager to share project updates and valuable market insights.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics or equivalent by experience in the field of process automation.
  • Business fluent or native language in English.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years working experience in sales.
  • Good knowledge of measurement & control technologies, DCS architecture and digital communication.
  • Understanding of legalisation around explosion protection is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated, excellent analytical skills and able to work well under pressure.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate well with all levels and across organization boundaries.
  • Problem-solving attitude and lateral thinker.
  • Willing to travel: across South Africa (regularly) and Sub-Saharan Africa (periodically)
