Senior Lean Consultant
Role Purpose:
Promote Continuous Improvement Culture and support the Plant Management on the next steps on Plant's Lean Journey.
Manage Global Lean Management Initiatives within Pepperl+Fuchs (P+F) including the development of standards and improvement roadmaps, leading, facilitating and consulting on all aspects of assigned large scale, complex or significant projects and tasks, from start to end so that they are completed on time and ensure that they have an impact on the companies breakthrough objectives.
Major Accountabilities:
- Coach and mentor team and relevant personnel during projects and activities; assists project team during Problem Solving
- Train and guide P+F colleagues of different departments and different hierarchical levels in LEAN philosophy and Operations Performance System
- Be a partner and advisor for Plant Manager, Managers/HODs of different departments regarding improvement requests or improvement needs in their areas and provide constructive feedback if there is any deviation from agreed directions
- Advice and provide management with information to project costing and justifications (e.g. potentials regarding lead time, processing times, ROI or needs for project budget, etc.)
- Controlling of KPI achievement after any Lean related activities (KPIs defined and documented in Project definition phase, ensure sustainability)
- Liaise with other operational area in the organization to secure specialized resources and contributions to assigned activities
- Prepare, execute and follow-up on Lean related activities (projects, workshops, audits) in P+F facilities and departments
- Design, communicate and implement a project plan based on agreed Plant Roadmap; Monitor progress and performance against the project plan; identify, resolve or escalate operational problems and minimize delays
- Functional support of P+F facilities in the usage of Operations Performance system contents and standards. Demand the usage of Operations Performance system contents and standards from P+F facilities
- Conduct trainings and facilitate roll-out of new or existing Lean Tools, Methods and Elements aligned with Lean Team in respective sites
- Manage own projects and assigned tasks, and ensure all meet agreed targets, timelines and budgets
- Manage, monitor and schedule project or task relevant resources in order to meet agreed targets, milestones and timelines
- Conduct project or task related meetings and prepare regular reports to communicate status of project or task
- Create and develop workshop and training materials, Blogposts and Operations Performance System descriptions and other intranet content
- Development of new or existing Lean Tools, Methods and Elements, manage/lead the local GLM Team members as direct/disciplinary reports w/ all associated tasks
Role Requirements:
- Tertiary education qualification in Electronics/Mechanical, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Information Technology, Business Administration or equivalent from a reputable institution of higher learning
- Minimum 7 years of working experience; of which 5 years of Lean professional experience in operational process management and/or Manufacturing operations, in an international setting with proven successes in optimizing Production Operations and/or Business processes
- Experienced in transferring and applying Lean knowledge to all areas of the company with some years of experience in leading/supervising project teams
- Extensive knowledge on Lean fundamentals and methodologies and experience in Change Management is highly regarded
- Business fluent or native English (written and spoken) with fluency in German language will be added advantage
- Analytical, logical, ability to combine details into an overall picture and illustrate topics in an easy-to-understand manner
- A good problem solver, good in handling ambiguity and well-balanced in terms of technical and business acumen
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
