What does a good application for an apprenticeship place look like and how can I apply?
Your application should include a cover letter, a résumé, and the two most recent certificates from the school you are currently attending. You may add a photo if you wish, although this is not compulsory.
Your cover letter should tell us a bit about yourself and why you wish to start this particular apprenticeship. Maybe you have been fascinated by technology since you were young and have always enjoyed tinkering? This is exactly the kind of information we like to hear if you are, for example, applying for an electronics engineer apprenticeship. What makes you stand out from other applicants (for example hobbies, volunteer work, internships, or prior knowledge/experience)? Try to be authentic in your descriptions, as this is the most important thing for us. Please also pay attention to spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
-
When is the selection procedure for apprenticeship places held and how does this work?
In the first step, the application documents are carefully examined and a preselection of all applications received is performed.
Pepperl+Fuchs Mannheim: If you have impressed us with your application documents, we will send you an online test that you can complete in your own time from home. The test takes around 60 to 90 minutes and can be taken on any computer with an Internet connection. In terms of content, the test focuses on technical and commercial understanding. Once we have sent you the invitation for the test, you can take the actual test at a time that suits you. We then invite you to attend our recruitment day, so that we can get to know you a little better. This gives you the opportunity to show us who you are, what special skills you have to offer, and whether you are a good fit for our team. Beside group exercises, you will also take part in a one-to-one interview with those responsible from the training area, as well as the respective specialist department.
Pepperl+Fuchs Berlin, ECOM Instruments GmbH: During the selection procedure, you will take an online test and also take part in a one-to-one interview with those responsible from the training area, as well as the respective specialist department.
The key here is also to simply be yourself and talk openly.
