GENERAL OVERVIEW

Digitization is leading to enormous volumes of data being stored. As a Business Informatics Specialist, you will analyze and manage large and typically complex volumes of data, which you will prepare in such a way that important information can be extracted. As a data processing professional, you will then derive the best possible recommended actions for the company from this or develop innovative solutions. You will act as an interface between the business management and IT worlds at the company by deploying your business management skills and expertise.

Your academic course at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Mannheim is linked to practical training in the entire IT-related area, supplemented by deployments in commercial departments, such as Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Controlling, Purchasing and Finance.

DURATION OF STUDY / SCHEDULE

All courses start on October 1 each year and take 3 years (6 semesters).

Students on the dual study program generally complete a 1-month pre-study internship at Pepperl+Fuchs (starting on September 1) before officially starting their degree course. Our application portal is open from March onward for the subsequent training year. However, since most places are assigned some time before the start of studies, you should ideally already apply a year before you are due to complete your school-leaving qualification.

LOCATIONS

We currently offer the dual study Bachelor of Science - Business Information Systems degree course with specialization in Data Science at our company HQ in Mannheim. The practical phases of your degree course are also held there. The theoretical section of the course at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Mannheim and the practical phase at the company are performed at intervals of between 3 and 6 months.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN YOU / QUALITIES WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

TThe prerequisite for the dual study Bachelor of Engineering - Business Information Systems degree course with specialization in Data Science at Pepperl+Fuchs is a good general or subject-linked higher education entrance qualification and a successfully passed screening test at the Cooperative State University. Although grades are clearly important, they are not everything. In fact, we place just as much emphasis on team spirit, commitment, having fun at work, and the will to get things moving forward.

Anyone wishing to take the Bachelor of Engineering - Business Information Systems degree course with specialization in Data Science should also meet the following requirements:

• An affinity for business and IT relationships 
• Enjoy working with numbers and solving complex problems
• A strong interest in IT-specific duties, such as programming and data analysis
• Sound knowledge of math
• A logical and abstract mindset
• A high degree of commitment and initiative at the workplace 
• An independent and reliable approach to work
